Field Work
I have decided firmly now that the PhD is on the back burner so I think field work might be the next station stop. Indigo. I am investigating residencies and ways to deep dive into process and understanding to keep my interest up. This is all because
I cannot rationalise working with acrylic at the moment - I love painting and oil is more manageable but there is an obvious discord working with my ideas and plastic polymer. I need to look at alternatives for using indigo
I am worried I will lose momentum
I am worried I may slip back into older habits as they have been there a lot longer
I want to work towards research, or at least continue my own research so that I am more equipped to do a PhD later, not less

What do I want
I want to find an alternative for paint
Indigo dyes would be the obvious starting point, the indigo is central to all my expressions around grief
I grew up with indigo and it is part of the fabric of my life and all my memories of colony that no longer exists
I want to take a deep dive into further, more practical research - I am now in the form finding stage of my development, having really developed my ideas over the course of the MA
I want to form a basis for highly specific, niche research if I decide at a later date to do more academic research.
