Drawings, Revisited
I have come back to the compost humus ink drawings made earlier in the MA whilst still experimenting with materials derived directly from the compost. I really liked these drawings and I chose one for the GROTTO print sale. I felt like these remaining five still needed something, I love the fraying, tearing, partiality to them. Some are saturated in the Earthly goo and others are more restrained. I am interested in phosphorescence and my ongoing fascination with glowing and lights in the dark as well as the idea of the dots representing bioluminescence amongst bioindicator species such as fungi. I have had a go at adding some phosphorescence to these drawings to see how they are slightly altered - in the daylight very little, but with a black light they transform into something else. I dug out the black light and photographed them again in darkness, which shows them up as purple and green, rather sci fi but I like.
