A Concertina of Colour

This is a concertina sketchbook of kraft paper I started on my drawing session on Zoom titled Colour & Imagination. There is still a bit of a mismatch going on with the work on my MA and the ‘landscape’ drawing sessions I am running but I can’t worry about that too much. What I am doing is finding a middle ground (at least for now) where I am taking the landscape less literally and just playing with lines and ideas. The idea of drawing with lines is increasingly tricky to house within my new approach to thinking about the Earth but there is an inescapable fact that I love drawing lines and will continue to do so, so there’s a bit of figuring out to be done there. The lines are a bit less of the descriptive type and more about tracing my thoughts - ‘drawing a line around my think’ to paraphrase the apocryphal quote by a small child describing what art is.
